Daily Diary (Teaching Practice) phase 2)

 Week 5

As usual the week made me so much of courage.....

The important events occurred in this week include

Awareness class on Sexual abuse

On Day 20, all the students had to take an oath to declare their active and dynamic engagement in social settings, in association with the commemoration of ‘World Youth Skills Day’. On this day, my optional teacher from college came for observing my class and appreciated me for my use of ICT in classroom. She also gave me suggestions for improvements. During my other periods, I checked and corrected the notebooks of my students. On Day 21, I taught the first few paragraphs of the chapter ‘A Shipwrecked Sailor’s using power point presentation. I also gave the students activity cards, which was to create example sentences for some words that I have taught them during that period. On day 22, I taught some more paragraphs of the story and made students read the portion loudly. It gave me an opportunity to correct their wrong pronunciations and teach them read in the correct pace. Reading aloud also helped them to actively engage with the text, thus enhancing their comprehension and retention of the material. In 9D I gave students my project tool-ratting scale to collect data for doing my B.Ed project. On day 23, I taught my classes the rest of the portion of ‘A Shipwrecked Sailor’. I gave them activity cards so as to make them do some vocabulary drills. Vocabulary drills and activity cards engage students actively, making the learning process more interactive and memorable. This active participation helps solidify vocabulary knowledge and improves long-term retention.

Entering my 5th week of teaching practice, I have seen notable progress in my use of ICT within the classroom. This week has been pivotal in demonstrating the impact that well-crafted presentations can have on student engagement and understanding. Incorporating PowerPoint presentations has significantly improved the visual aspect of my lessons. By integrating images, diagrams, and multimedia elements, I’ve been able to make complex concepts more accessible. I have also improved my approach to feedback and assessment. By providing timely, specific, and constructive feedback, I have helped students understand their strengths and areas for improvement.
